13 april 2020

Last night was clear, but a little dewy and transparency was poor -- planes on approach to Oakland cast their beams through the haze. Seeing was poor, 5/10, so I kept the magnification relatively low at 333x, except for a couple of observations, and used my apodizing mask throughout. I did have some moments of very good seeing, which made me hopeful. But by 11:15 it had grown noticeably colder and the seeing went to pot. I presume an inversion had created a turbulent warm/cold air layer above me. So I packed it in. Hopes for some clear skies tonight.
