16 may 2023

Observed with the 6-inch through average seeing and worsening transparency.  Still a lot seen, mostly in the south:

STF1604 AB: 152; 125x: Very pretty triple star, forming a nearly equilateral triangle, light orange stars, the brightest >1 Dm than the next brightest, which is a half magnitude brighter than C.  Seen with the 60mm too.  AB do no share any parallax range overlap, -99%.  AC have -3% parallax range overlap, though the other specs (231 AU weighted separation, 1.0+0.6 Msol, 2.0 RVD vs. 3.5 EV) indicate binary they are all likely a line of sight asterism.

STF1659 AB: 152; 125x: Quite the asterism: one large equilateral triangle composed of to equal magnitude white stars and one slightly unequal.  Inside this is a pointed triangle of slightly fainter stars, the two closest together are near equal magnitude and the point star 1 Dm.  The two closest stars of the inner triangle have the closest parallax, but they do not overlap, -64%.  It remains a very entertaining asterism.

STF1669 AB: 152; 125x: Near equal light orange stars, close but easily split with low power.  A faint star well separated forms a pointed triangle with the main pair.  -66% parallax range overlap, it is not binary.
