13 november 2022 perseus struves

It was clear but with a cold haze over the Bay Area, average seeing, but a good night with the 6-inch.  I devoured Struves, with great help using the Nexus, all in Perseus.  With looks at Jupiter and Mars to bookend the night -- Saturn already being too low after my 9pm start time.

STF 308 AB: 152; 125x: Miram, very beaurtiful orange A and blue B, >3 Dm, wide.  WDS uncertain, but there is -4% parallax range overlap with 6% error, and a wide 8,180 AU weighted separation -- not likely to be binary.

STF 139 AB: 152; 125x: A bit lost in a field if brighter stars, this is a faint , 1 Dm, well separated. WDS says proper motion indicates not physical. But more pertinently there is no overlap of the parallax ranges, -87%, it is not binary.

STF 162 AB: 152; 150x: Excellent pair, pure white, 1 Dm, closely split, C star with a similar position angle.  WDS says parallax indicates it's physical, but in fact there is no parallax range overlap, -55%, it is not binary.
01h 49m 15.47s +47° 53' 47.1" P.A. 199.00 sep 2.0 mag 6.47,7.22 Sp A3V dist. 127.55 pc (416.07 l.y.)

STF 213 AB: 152; 125x: Beautiful close pair, faint, white, nearly 1 Dm, in a lovely rich field.  WDS uncertain, but there is no parallax range overlap, -68%, it is not binary.

STF 217 AB: 152; 125x: Faint stars, nearly equal, widely separated.  WDS says not physical, and there is -94% parallax range overlap, it is not binary.

STF 225 AB: 152; 125x: 2 Dm, well split, delicate B just appears with direct vision, very pretty.  WDS uncertain, but there is -5% overlap of the parallax ranges, not likely binary.

STF 230 AB: 152; 125x: Very wide 2 Dm pair.  WDS says it's physical, and there is 35% overlap of the parallax ranges, a very wide 15,406 AU weighted separation, 4.0+2.8 Msol -- it is perhaps too wide to be binary.

STF 235 AB: 152; 150x: Beautiful close pair, significant delta magnitude, suspected notched at 125x, split 150x.  WDS uncertain, and there is 20% parallax range overlap, only 386 AU weighted separation, 1.6+1.5 Msol, so it is very possibly binary.
