23 january 2022

This was a pretty decent night, so I used the 20-inch throughout.  I have been trying over the last several nights, whenever it was clear, to split Joy 1, which is Mira's white dwarf companion.  Or, more correctly, the glow from the white dwarf's accretion disk of Mira's material it is absorbing.  This can only be seen when Mira is at minima, which it is now, however the target is getting tough to see since it is narrowing separation of 0.45" currently, and it is itself variable of indeterminate period and range.  I could not get any resolution because Mira is low in the sky and the seeing was always too poor.  I'll keep trying, but it may have to wait until the end of this year when Mira is at minima again.

EDG 2 AB: 508; 205x: Bright white star with two fairly bright stars close by (AB and AC).  Did not try for Aa,Ab, 5.51/8.68 0.4".
